Dinosaurs in the making? Yes, exactly. I mean outdated processes, inefficient procedures and habits that survive only because “we’ve always done it that way”. Let’s leave aside the discussion of how much manufacturing is dinosaur-free, if any. And let’s leave out the simple fact that there is always room for improvement, that’s another story.
This dinosaur story is about something else. Often, and far from only in manufacturing, we know we have a problem somewhere, that this or that could work better and more joyfully. And it doesn’t really matter if we’re just afraid to admit it, lazy to jump off the tracks, or have found some other reason not to address it.
In life it can be much more complicated, but in production I think there is a very simple solution. For most dinosaurs, the approximate profit from their removal and the associated costs can be quantified here. And then it’s an easy decision. Isn’t it?
So I wish everyone not to go extinct together with their dinosaurs and get a MES system – ideally of course our MES PHARIS – which will easily help them from a lot of these beasts.
And only then comes the fairy tale mentioned at the beginning, where it is about gradual improvement, by the way, #MES PHARIS is very good for that too. You have the data, you have the tools – you just need the desire and you’re done.
